COEXISTENCE DURING COVID
FUNDED BY THE WOLVERHAMPTON COUNCIL - 2019-2020
Co-existence During COVID was a vital community initiative delivered in partnership with Wolverhampton Council during the early stages of the pandemic. The project was designed to support residents as they navigated an uncertain and challenging period, with a strong focus on unity, cultural understanding, and inclusion. At a time when misinformation, fear, and social tension were widespread, the Council recognised the need for a clear, accessible community guide that could bring people together rather than divide them.
Our team worked closely with Wolverhampton Council to develop a comprehensive support book that explained COVID-19 guidance in simple, human-centred language. To ensure the resource was fully inclusive and accessible to residents from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, we created a series of original illustrations that visually communicated key messages. These illustrations played a crucial role in breaking down language barriers, helping families, migrants, and individuals from multicultural communities understand public health information with confidence.
The project emphasised coexistence, compassion, and collective responsibility. It reminded the community that despite our differences, cultural, linguistic, or social, we all shared the same challenges and had a responsibility to look out for one another. Co-existence During COVID encouraged unity, reduced feelings of exclusion, and promoted the value of coming together as one community during a global crisis.
The initiative was widely praised for its clarity, accessibility, and cultural sensitivity. It became a valuable resource for households across Wolverhampton and demonstrated how creative communication can strengthen resilience, connection, and belonging during times of uncertaint
